Adapter versus converter

A plug adapter only changes the physical pin shape; it does not change voltage. A device rated for a single voltage (not dual/multi-voltage) needs an actual voltage converter, or it can be damaged.

Reading a power-brick label

Look for 'INPUT: 100-240V' on the charger or device label -- that range means it's dual-voltage and only needs a plug adapter. A single voltage number means it needs a converter instead.

USB-C wattage and cable limits

The charger, cable and device must all support the same Power Delivery wattage -- a high-wattage charger paired with a basic cable will charge at the cable's lower limit, not the charger's rated maximum.
